The Halloween recital has always been one of my favorites. As a voice teacher, there are so many fun Halloween-themed songs and creative ways to incorporate costumes into our performances. My students generally enjoy this recital as well, and they have a great time learning songs that they might not otherwise focus on in regular lessons.
This year marked our third Fall-o-ween recital at Dynamic Music Studios, held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coralville. We are incredibly grateful to Prince of Peace for letting us use their space. About 42 students performed—less than half of our studio population—across three recitals on Friday, October 18th. Performers ranged in age from young children to adults, and we were treated to many amazing performances! Afterward, the studio owners were talking about how inspiring it is to see students’ growth over the years. As our studio has continued to grow, we love hearing the musical strides our students have made.
For me personally, it was also wonderful to watch the students of former students perform, knowing that I played a small part in their musical journey. I have two amazing students who now teach with me here at Dynamic Music Studios!
We look forward to continuing the Fall-o-ween recital tradition and hope that more students and families can participate. I also wanted to mention that we collected tons of canned goods and other non-perishable food items to donate to the local food bank, which is another way we incorporate community service at our studio.
